Texture In Design: Types & Importance Infographics Included

texture graphic design

We can determine differences in feels between the first and the second image simply by looking at them. A texture is a tangible(that can be seen or felt) property of a surface. The texture is primarily identified as the ridges in a surface and the formation of a pattern. With Simplified, you can design anything you like, scale your brand, and even collaborate with your team. We have hundreds of beautiful templates for you to use, or you can start from scratch.

Free High-Resolution Wood Textures (By Isaac Gube, JPG)

Note how the example below perfectly illustrates the power of natural textures. Something as simple as leaves paired with a flat design creates the necessary contrast to quickly catch the eye. This kind of contrast and juxtaposition is what also creates a sense of drama and draws the eye. In this guide, we shall focus solely on texture as an element of graphic design.

Abstract Textures

You may also use this paper texture to create impressive background designs. Old photo textures and old newspaper textures add depth to your retro designs and make your designs look more authentic. So download this amazing pack if you want to look original with your designs. Vellum is smooth, but its subtle jaggedness makes it rougher than other forms of smooth paper textures. Vellum is generally made from pure cellulose fibers found within tree bark. The material for creating vellum is also obtained from plasticized rags.

Bonus: The importance of textures in modern graphic design

We’ve covered a lot about static design, but using the background to create a sense of a 3D layered effect is a completely different technique. The key is combining opacity and transparency to create a sense of depth. Even something as simple as bubble wrap, in this example, can create an entirely new look and feel when placed on top of images. Basically, when adding texture, you want to create something that will catch someone's eye without being too over the top. The goal is to achieve something that brings out your idea while invoking an emotional response to the viewer.

Enhance the visual experience using this variety of textures to bring touch and feel to your designs

The keywords for you to remember here are clipping masks, blending, and layers. After importing the image, you may have to experiment with these settings. Blending options, clipping masks, and layers will help create the desired paper texture that could work well with your design project. Several creative platforms can help you with the paper texture you need. If you still cannot find what you are looking for, you can create your own by using a paint roller on a piece of thick paper. You can also use your phone camera to take photos of textures you like.

In summary, when it comes to using texture in graphic design, there are several ways to create more alluring compositions. Along with diverse shapes, patterns, colors, and other visual elements, the texture will be the “icing on the cake”. Textured backgrounds are one of the most powerful tools for creating visually provoking graphic designs.

Monochromatic colors in graphic design

And the old, trompe l’oeil approach to texture has not completely disappeared either. New tools have allowed illusionistic texture to become ever more sophisticated; its place in the design world is smaller now, but still important. Graphic design is a core part of successful marketing and branding. You need graphics everywhere from your website to your social media pages and even outdoor billboards. Most of us think of texture as something we feel when we run our fingers over an item. In physical art, the texture is determined by the materials used – paint or carved stone, for example.

The online platform provides “millions of designers, writers, artists, programmers, and other creators” with the designs required to create great content.

Typography can be given personality and individuality through the usage of textured typefaces. When used with care, textured fonts can amplify a design’s visual impact while also fitting in with its overarching theme. Ava7Patterns Ava7Patterns provides beautiful patterns for you to download. You can search patterns through the site’s collection of over 1,200 patterns by color or by shape. PatternCooler PatternCooler is an excellent site for getting seamless patterns. With each pattern featured, you’re able to modify the color, rotate and resize their resolution, and save them to your PatternCooler account (if you have one).

You can also create an attractive environment for your blog, which will enable your readers to stay on your site longer. This halftone paper texture from Textures4Photoshop can be used in a number of ways to bring your comic book to life. Halftone is generally created by using a gradient of shades and limiting the number of tones. Halftone patterns are generally used to make an image more dramatic. You can use this retro comic book background with halftone texture to your design project to give it a vintage look. This retro comic book background ensures that you do not have to create a new one from scratch on editing applications such as Photoshop.

We shall address its importance in the whole process and see how you can enhance your designs using texture with CorelDRAW software. Like size, form, and color, texture is an essential part of every good graphic design. Some textures, such grainy ones, may suggest roughness and roughness, whereas smooth ones could suggest refinement. Successful integration of texture in graphic design demands mastery of color theory, an understanding of texture psychology, and a firm grasp of design concepts. Designers must also consider how their creations will be displayed across various devices, as different screens may interpret textures differently. Consider the case of a graphic artist tasked with crafting an advertisement for an exhilarating mountain adventure tour.

The library continues to grow, with almost 200,000 photos and videos being uploaded every month. Pinstripe papers can easily be spotted because they have ribbed vertical lines that stretch down the length of the sheet. Pinstripe papers are generally used for wrapping or decorations. From wallpapers to paper bags, pinstripe papers are stylish and elegant. Textures simulate feel and provide us context on how something would feel when touched. Uncover the origins, discover key motifs, and find inspiration to give a touch of coquetry into your own style.

Defined by the site, a seamless texture “can be repeated infinitely without showing any edges. They are primarily used in 3D design, website backgrounds, graphic design, and desktop wallpapers“. There are visual textures, and then there are tactile textures. Tactile textures have physical qualities even though they are purely visual. Tactile images mimic the texture of the physical surface of various objects.

The word “texture” comes from the Latin textura, meaning “weaving.” The feel of fabric is central to the term’s significance. Find out what’s new on Freepik and get notified about the latest content updates and feature releases. The first and easiest way to add texture is with a background. Here’s to creating graphic art with a purpose and meaning as opposed to with an afterthought. Careful incorporation of texture into design efforts is the essence of the texture design approach.

Textures that look or are made to look a certain texture but feel different are called Visual or Implied Textures. An example of visual texture would be this work of art by sculptor Håkon Anton Fagerås. The feel and weight of the metal, plastic, glass, and other materials that make up packages affect the consumer’s opinion of a product. You can download different textures in both vector and raster file formats on Freepik. Let’s say you have an illustration, a 3D render, or just an image of something. You’re happy with the result, yet you think it’s missing something.

The drippy, cheesy slab serif above left is a particularly extreme—but by no means uncommon—example. The typeface above right, called “Canyon,” by Man Farin, is a little more subtle. Besides landscapes, perhaps no photographic subject conveys more texture than the human face. Magazine designers are the master of this texture component, as you can see in the above cover of Esquire featuring a stubbly Bruce Willis.

We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder. The Fujifilm X100VI is the sixth iteration of Fujifilm's classically-styled large sensor compact. A 40MP X-Trans sensor, in-body stabilization and 6.2K video are among the updates. I've been traveling with the ED 20L v2 as my 'personal item' for a while now and so far I've always been able to fit it under the airplane seat on a variety of airlines.

Finally, there are three carrying straps—a leather top strap, and two fabric handles on either side—meaning you can easily carry this thing, however, you’d like. This, combined with the luggage sleeve, makes it a great travel bag. You can easily pick up the bag without actually strapping it to your back.

Travel Tripod Tool Kit

I had the v2 in hand, but found the changes, particulalrly with the interior pockets, to be a downgrade from the v1 that I have. The velcro area inside for the divider attachment is also smaller, so I couldn't space out the dividers how I have them currently--it was basically a non-starter for configuring the bag to fit my gear. For packs that's around liters or smaller you have to have a short back (or find a pack that's really tall for its volume) to get any weight on a hip belt. A thin strap can still be quite useful for stabilizing the pack in high intensity activities. My preference for small packs is a strap/thin hip belt that's removable.

I agree this bag looks relly nice but this seems like a bag for no pros that work for real environment and sometimes stressful. I use my bag only on vaccaion nad private photo and thats ok for that. I just don't like the way the metal touches my shirt.

Sternum Strap

We’re totally nitpicking—but hey, that’s what we’re here for. That said, the side water bottle pockets are great overall. It’s a super-minor detail, but still surprising given all the other design considerations and attention to detail going on with this bag. Between those two points is the removable sternum strap, which offers three different areas for adjustment. Let’s start with the harness system—it’s been a hot topic in the Pack Hacker community. To summarize our findings, Peak Design has improved the harness system on the Everyday Backpack (V2) quite a bit compared to V1, but it’s still not the best harness system out there.

peak design 30l everyday backpack

The nylon on the straps is patched and they probably should be replaced, but the pack itself is “better than new”. I have a (literal) closet full of various “outdoor” bags and spent nearly a decade “studying” them to better outfit customers. I have dropped cameras and lenses out of the side on several occasions (at least I know to only open the bag on the ground or on a table). I only haven’t got rid of it as I don’t want to inflict it on someone else. At lot of people criticize these bags and their pricing, but I just wanted to share my experience with them.

peak design 30l everyday backpack

I was at the beginning a fan of Peak Design but the more and the longer i used their products I have to say there is a lot of hype behind it and the prices are getting ridiculous. The quality is good but not premium as the price suggests. I like the pack, but turns out I hate riding with anything on my back. If you’re in the US, the REI Flash series is fairly lightweight and an excellent value.

It’s a versatile bag that can be used in a lot of different situations, however, we think it’s best for video and photo equipment. On the side, you will find pockets that are totally flat when not in use but can expand to fit large water bottles or whatever else you might need quick access to. They do this by using some elastic straps, which we weren’t super thrilled about. The other problem we found with these is that, when full, they hinder your ability to access the main compartment from the side.

Continuing on the theme of magnets, you’ll find that the signature MagLatch feature of the Everyday Backpack V2 has also been improved by Peak Design. These also hold the luggage pass-through tight against the body of the bag. It’s no longer held down by velcro, and although it wasn’t necessarily a troublesome task to do so before, it’s now even easier to place your Everyday Backpack V2 atop of your wheeled luggage. Its rigid structure never falters, and with the wide opening side access points and large top lid, you’ll be able to pack or access your gear and move on with efficiency. Christine Romero-Chan was formerly a Senior Editor for iMore. She has been writing about technology, specifically Apple, for over a decade at a variety of websites.

I also have a proper, load distributing backpack to use when needed — to carry camp gear along with cameras. It is how I get my GFX gear on the airplane, that and the PD Everyday messenger "briefcase". If you pick the bag up and forget to zip shot one of the sides, disaster can occur as your lenses slide out and hit the ground. The side panels are what makes the pack great, but it is also dangerous.

But regrettably vanished with V3, which is also not compatible with plates from V1. Miss a lot of shots that require a zoom lens or happen quickly in low light, I'd imagine. Subjective or course , but my early model 20l works fine with the clip. Its basically always on there , even when using the bag with no gear inside.

It’s (finally) time to get into the main compartment of the Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L (V2). There are three ways to access the main compartment—the top flap that opens up in a top-loader style and the two side zips. Unique MagLatch hardware provides lightning fast top access, with dual side access via two weatherproof UltraZips. See Features below, or check out exact dimensions.Check out the standard Everyday Backpack for more internal/external capacity, expandability, and organization. The zippers providing access to the side entry points of the bag never snag and consistently slide open smoothly without resistance, allowing you to access your gear on the go without frustration.

Read on to find out which portable enthusiast compacts are our favorites. My other note is the side pockets are too shallow to reliably hold water bottles and similar items. Thanks for pointing that out, I missed that when I skimmed the article, and I now stand corrected.

Funny enough though, my 1 Lowepro bag I do have has TERRIBLE straps. It was the gen 1 photosport 200 aw (bright orange). Great bag that could hold up to awful abuse, but those straps... @jaberg can I ask what you would consider a great lightweight bag? I like both a lot, but sometimes I want something super light weight.

Gourmet Chocolatier Premium Chocolate Gifts

chocolate house

As leaders in the gourmet chocolate industry, Compartés is dedicated to delivering exceptional chocolate flavors and experiences, making us a top choice for those in search of the best chocolate gifts. American chocolate has improved by leaps and bounds, but most domestic makers have yet to attempt the level of aesthetic taken for granted in cities like Paris and Barcelona, where the shop experience is typically fussed over as much as the product. Chocolatier Christine Sull Sarioz comes from a background in the fine and decorative arts; with designer husband Goktug, she has created one of the country's most astonishing boutiques, filled with equally beautiful (and exquisitely packaged) chocolate. Seasonal citrus bars in flavors like Meyer lemon and blood orange are almost too pretty to tear apart. Some of the most elegant chocolate bars in the country right now come from Bryan and Dahlia Graham's relatively modest operation in the rustic Catskill Mountains. From beautifully minimal single-origins (a citrus-tart Madagascar Sambirano) to a series of exceptional dark milks (Peru Marańon, in particular), each bar is as rich and smooth as the last.

Life

From mostly-shuttered market halls to back street workshops, more than a few of America's chocolatiers found themselves busier than ever. Should we be surprised to learn that so many of us found chocolate a comfort, during such a challenging time? Then again, history does repeat itself — after all, it was the Great Depression that gave us so much of the candy we grew up with. An astonishing number of the names we know best today, from Snickers to Three Musketeers to Sugar Babies, came on the market during that time and stayed put. Valerie Confections is not only Los Angeles's premier chocolatier and dessert-maker, it's also recognized as one of the nation's top confectioners. Since 2004, the company has made hand-crafted chocolates, petits fours, cakes, chocolate-covered toffee, preserves, baked goods, and more from only the best all-natural ingredients.

Over nearly a quarter century, Michael and Jacky Recchiuti have grown one of the country's finest chocolate shops from farmers market pop-up to renowned producer of some of the most elegant truffles being made this side of the Atlantic. Their Black Box collection — 16 pieces, in delicate flavors like bergamot tea and tarragon grapefruit — is the perfect gift for somebody (very, very) special. Probably this was their go-to chocolate store in Los Angeles, due to their pristine reputation. This shop has been around since 1942, gifting the city with glamorously packaged truffles, marshmallows, caramels, nuts, toffees and chocolates.

A chocolatier, like Compartés, specializes in crafting premium chocolates, transforming the finest cocoa beans into a variety of luxury chocolate products. Our expertise lies in creating a wide range of chocolates, including dark, milk, and white varieties, each designed to offer a unique taste experience. Mignon ChocolateThis family business harkens back to 1910 in the Ukraine and in the 1970s to Iran, where Mignon was known as the "King of Chocolates." Fast forward to 2002, when third generation chocolatiers Joseph and Anoush Ter-Poghossian brought their handcrafted chocolates and truffles to Los Angeles.

But the biggest pop culture story centers around Lucille Ball, who was inspired to write her famous “I Love Lucy” chocolate factory episode after spotting the conveyor belt in the back room factory (which is still used, along with the original tools and pots). It would be a crime not to stop by the most iconic Los Angeles chocolate shop and discover what traditional, artisanal candy is all about. From a reinvigorated gem to the oldest shop in town, these are the best chocolate stores in L.A. If you forget, warm the butter in the microwave for 7 to 10 seconds, until it’s slightly softened, being careful not to melt it. Here at Compartés, we are constantly innovating with chocolate, pushing the boundaries of culinary art with our expertly crafted seasonal releases, exclusive corporate gifts, and limited-edition collections.

Last spring, with the historic Pike Place Market all but silent, this relatively recent arrival was still humming, producing some of the city's best chocolate, something you don't say lightly in a town like Seattle. Erin Andrews started out just over a decade ago, moving into the market's long-awaited extension in 2017; Indi's direct trade, single-origin bars ought to have your attention. Damaris Ronkanen sources sustainably harvested white cacao from Tabasco state — at the heart of a region with roughly 4,000 uninterrupted years of growing experience — for her intriguing 70% Mexico bars. Ronkanen's Mexican drinking chocolate and cacao-infused Cafe de Olla blend were inspired by childhood visits with family in Puebla. The berry-farming Straub family stumbled into chocolate roughly a decade ago, and never found their way out.

One taste is all you need to understand the difference between pure dark chocolate and your typical American chocolate bar; the first is practically a health food, the other a milky-sweet indulgence. Denise Castronovo, who moved into chocolate-making when the last recession left her with plenty of downtime from her consulting business, is one in a growing group of top-level makers successfully fusing the two ideas, creating a high-cocoa content milk chocolate, known in the industry as dark milk. Castronovo's is made with the finest, sometimes very rare, Latin American cacao. With a selection of over 300 different chocolates—all of them handcrafted in Belgium and flown to this small Brentwood shop—Lady Chocolatt caters, above all else, to the diehard traditional European chocolate aficionado.

Here, you’ll find dark, milk and white chocolate; classic fillings like praline, chocolate ganache and liqueur; and less conventional Western flavors like cardamom, violet, rose and chili. Customers can build their own ballotin boxes or opt for one of their pre-made assorted boxes—all of them packaged with flair. If you’ve got a bit more time on your hands, Lady Chocolatt’s café also offers decadent cups of hot chocolate and crispy Belgian waffles. While this list focuses rather narrowly on the finest American chocolate bars, because they are something so richly deserving of celebration, there are more high-quality bonbon and truffle makers out there right now than most of us will be able to sample in one lifetime.

Adam Krantz's chile mango, hibiscus caramel, and mesquite-smoked whiskey-infused bonbons practically leap out at you with their sense of place. As Southern Arizona's most accomplished chocolatier, Krantz has proven himself wonderfully versatile, garnering impressive notices for nicely-packaged bars as well, including one from Madagascar's Sambirano Valley, a particularly sought-after source. With a strong focus on cacao grown in Brazil — co-founder Sarah Hartman is Brazilian by birth — this bean-to-bar maker has become a standout in the nation's capital, emphasizing direct trade with their growers and partnering with organizations that work tirelessly to protect and restore the rainforest. Time and again across the country, the story repeated itself, during the last year and counting.

Whether you’re shopping for a gourmet holiday gift (always a delicious Valentine’s Day go-to) or just hoping to score a sweet treat of your own, these L.A. Chocolate shops will be there to facilitate a sweet, dopamine-spiking reprieve from modern life. And, you know, with the future of cacao uncertain amid the worsening climate crisis, an indulgent box of high-quality gourmet chocolate may soon be a rarity, so enjoy cacao-based sweets while you still can.

A decade and a half later, this fair trade-pioneering company's Mexican-style chocolate discs — 100% organic — are some of the finest around, making for a memorable drinking chocolate experience. I've gotten them for myself and to cheer up a grieving friend and they always make life better. Traditional Chinese house refers to a variety of residential architectures created during the imperial era of China. In different regions, different kinds of civilian houses were made to better adapt to the local environment. It’s hard to give a full introduction to all the folk houses in China; here are the ten most characteristic traditional Chinese houses still in use.

The first kind is a one-yard house, which means there is only one yard. The second kind is a two-yard house, while the last type is a three-yard house. Generally speaking, the more yard a house has, the wealthier the owner is and the higher the proprietor’s social position is. In a big house with three yards, the first yard is the gatehouse where the servants and doormen live; the second yard is the hall where guests are received, while the last yard is the private rooms for the hosts to live. Fans are speculating that the track is a sequel of sorts to “London Boy” from 2019’s “Lover,” which details the highs of her relationship with former longtime partner Joe Alwyn. “So Long, London” follows Swift’s tradition of saving the most devastatingly beautiful tune for Track 5, with a level of emotional vulnerability and truth that goes beyond what the singer usually shows. “I’m pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free,” Swift sings with an edge that could kill. With 31 tracks across the two albums, fans have been parsing through the songs and dissecting lyrics since the clock struck midnight.

Was Travis Kelce's Pre-Game Wardrobe a Nod to Taylor Swift's 'Anti-Hero' Look?

A well-known Kansas City-area medical malpractice attorney and his family were the previous owners of this house. Originally listed in September 2022 for $6.9 million, it appears Kelce scored a deal on the property, as it is now pending sale at $6 million. Swift's closest address to Kelce's new place is her Nashville, Tennessee mansion, which is still a whopping eight hours away. A long commute isn't really an issue when you have a private jet at your disposal, but it would certainly be more convenient to have a place nearby. According to Daily Mail, the timing worked out perfectly as Swift could enjoy some downtime with Kelce during her break from her "Eras" tour. The property sits inside a gated community, making it much harder for media access than his former home which could be viewed from the street. The massive property is also surrounded by a lush array of greenery and large trees, making it a perfect getaway for the couple whenever Swift flies in from the legs of her many tour stops and music gigs. Rumor has it that the NFL star was looking for something with a bit more privacy, especially with the prying eyes of the media watching his and Swift's every move. According to TMZ, the football player's mainstay property in Briarcliff West was becoming far too accessible to the paparazzi as well as fans who decided to sneak a glimpse at the home. Not to mention, the football star had a security team parked outside his former property to ward off intruders.

Her current portfolio is valued at $150 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. Perhaps if the pair's romance gets serious, Swift can help Kelce up his home design and real estate games, bringing him into a whole new era. To combat the problem, Kelce ended up buying a larger, much more private mansion for $6 million dollars in the suburbs of Leawood in October of 2023.

The 17,000 square foot six-bedroom and six-bathroom sits on 3.5 acres, outfitted with a chef's kitchen, wine cellar, media room, and formal dining room space. While the property was built in 1998, it underwent a massive upgrade by the famous Wolfgang Trost Architects group and renowned builder Harry Roth. According to Mansion Global, Travis Kelce’s house was built in 1998 on three acres of land. The nearly 17,000-square-foot home boasts six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and plenty of space for entertaining and spending time with Taylor. Travis Kelce buys $6-million mansion in Kansas for privacy. That’s real estate (Taylor’s Version)

In true TSwift fashion, the pop star surprised fans with 15 bonus songs two hours after releasing “The Tortured Poets Department” on Friday. The second installment, titled “The Anthology,” was not a true shocker to eagle-eyed Swifties who had observed the singer dropping hints about the number two since she announced the album in February at the Grammys. As we are all aware of the fact that one of the hottest topics in the world today is the discussion about celebrities and their lifestyle. These discussions commonly revolve around as to what kind of house they are living in, where they are traveling for vacations, what kind of cars are they in possession of, and what will they do next. All of these questions are being continuously searched on the Internet and also being debated on social media sites by the fans of celebrities.

While there appear to be no photos of inside the property, the exterior boasts a wraparound balcony with tranquil views. With over three acres of land, it is the height of luxury with a "Beverly Hills-style" pool area that features a hot tub, an expansive patio, an outdoor kitchen, and a waterfall. Originally completed in 1994, Kelce's home has gone through several renovations since then. There’s also an outdoor kitchen, tennis/pickleball court, waterfall, hot tub, and miniature golf course. “So High School” boasts one of the album’s stickiest melodies, recalling a late-’90s or early-2000s nostalgic sound, which is mirrored by the sentimental lyrics.

This huge wine cellar with a tasting table is big enough to host the whole team post Super Bowl. Dating Taylor Swift comes with an excessive amount of media attention and little to no privacy, and no one knows it better than Travis Kelce. Ever since the pair's romance started heating up in the Fall of 2023, the paparazzi haven't let up on their newfound love affair. According to Daily Mail, the timing worked out perfectly as Swift could enjoy some downtime with Kelce during her break from her lucrative "Eras" tour. The two have been spending quite a lot of time together in the city, which many believe was the deciding factor in the tight end deciding to upgrade his crib.

As reported by Realtor, Swift had been looking for houses in the area herself before her boyfriend decided to pull the trigger. Kelce has a bit of a dating history himself (not unlike Miss T-Swift), and the tight end has even starred in his reality dating show on E! But beyond his luck with the ladies, the NFL player's claim to fame has been his impressive long-standing career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He's become a multi-millionaire after 11 seasons with the Chiefs, and he signed a lofty 4-year extension deal with the team in 2020 that promises at least a few more years on the field.

From the circular driveway to the meticulously designed interiors, every element tells a story of triumph. Situated on over 3 acres of meticulously landscaped land, Kelce’s new abode provides a private retreat within the city of Leawood. This section delves into the location’s significance, exploring the tranquil surroundings and the strategic choice of a secluded 3.5-acre wooded lot for the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end’s residence. The estate is more than a home; it’s a private sanctuary away from the spotlight.

As a result, it isn't surprising that the two-time Super Bowl champion can afford to live in a home like this. Travis Kelce has played an instrumental role as the Kansas City Chiefs tight end by helping them win two Super Bowl championships. Despite what some sources have reported, Travis Kelce currently has no children – biological or adopted. Rumors of a romance began after Swift attended one of the NFL player’s games and cheered him on alongside his friends and family. Following the game, she and Kelce left the venue together to attend the after party.

Some of the home's main features include a modern kitchen equipped with top-quality appliances, a formal dining area, a game room, a wine storage and a primary bed suite with a luxurious bath. The 34-year-old previously purchased a seven-bedroom home in Kansas City in 2019 for $995,000, according to the New York Post. He signed a four-year deal with the Chiefs in 2020 for $57 million, and has an annual salary of $14 million. He also has a number of endorsements, as well as the New Heights podcast he co-hosts with his brother, fellow NFL player Jason Kelce, of the Philadelphia Eagles.

A certain Kansas City football star just bought a multimillion-dollar mansion in Kansas allegedly over privacy concerns as he dates a really famous pop singer-turned-box-office-sensation. Kelce has been linked to pop superstar Taylor Swift since September and the couple appeared to go public with an evening out in New York City last month. Swift has shown up to multiple Chiefs games this year, and Kelce reportedly plans to visit her during the team's bye week as she begins the international leg of her Eras tour.

Let’s just hope that there’s ample closet space, or plans to turn one of those bedrooms into another mega-closet to hold Kelce’s 300-plus pairs of sneakers and collection of online shopping spoils. The decision to invest in this discreetly opulent abode is not just a financial one but a lifestyle choice for Kelce. Behind private gates, the mansion provides architectural privacy and a sanctuary from the public eye. This section explores how the design elements contribute to creating a haven for Kelce, allowing him to enjoy the perks of success while maintaining a sense of solitude away from the spotlight. Kelce has been romantically linked to Taylor Swift since late September and has become quite a paparazzi magnet, especially when there’s a chance that the pop star will be in town for a home game.

The only thing going against this whole theory is that Swift isn't exactly hurting for places to stay. The "Fearless" singer owns $80 million worth of properties across the country, including multiple New York City penthouses, a Rhone Island mansion, and a historic Beverly Hills pad. She doesn't need Kelce to buy her a home—she could easily find and purchase one for herself.

Being a football star, there's no question Kelce wanted to buy a home with enough outdoor space to enjoy plenty of his sports activities. In addition to a giant backyard with an outdoor kitchen, the tight end can look forward to plenty of water time in his giant outdoor pool, waterfall, and hot tub. His new digs also include a personal pickleball and tennis court outfitted with lights as well as a miniature golf course. The home underwent a massive renovation in 2007, with upgrades to the entire main floor and upper level. It boasts 10,000 square feet of living space alongside five bathrooms, two half baths, a state-of-the-art kitchen, a recreation room, a gym, and wine storage with a built-in bar. Since the Kansas City Chiefs tight end started dating singer-songwriter Taylor Swift in 2023, every move he's made has been dissected and scrutinized by her dedicated fan base.

However, his budding property portfolio is nothing compared to his girlfriend's $150 million real estate empire. Travis Kelce has amassed a reported $50 million fortune throughout his NFL career and has invested some of his hard-earned cash into real estate. Fans flocked to the area, staking out the place and snapping photos, leaving the football star increasingly uncomfortable. Travis Kelce has leveled up his living situation with a six-bedroom mansion—and now we can finally see photos of his impressive new home.

Jason was selected by the Eagles in the 6th round of the 2011 NFL Draft and continues to play for the team as of 2023. Travis Kelce drives some seriously impressive wheels – one of which is a $220k Aston Martin Vantage with a V8 engine. His other luxury ride is a $150k Mercedes-AMG G63 that also features a V8 engine. The deck, boasting breathtaking views of the surrounding treetops, makes for a perfect al fresco dining space. According to records, Travis Kelce dished out $995,000 for this stunning custom estate in the uber luxurious Briarcliff West community in 2019. The kitchen is decked out in white marble and features all-white cabinetry, glossy white countertops, an island, and a peninsula with seating for 4.

His newest acquisition, a sprawling $6 million mansion in Leawood, Kansas, stands as a testament to his success in the NFL and affords a peek into the lavish lifestyle of a football superstar. In this in-depth exploration, we’ll step inside the gated confines of Kelce’s new residence, uncovering the opulent features that make this Kansas home a touchdown in luxury. Honestly, we’re disappointed it doesn’t have a “seemingly ranch”-style layout, but it does have a six-car garage and wine cellar. The home was originally listed in September 2022 for $6.9 million, and the pending sale price listed on Redfin currently stands at $5,999,950. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, is reportedly settling into a new home in Kansas City. While he’s been making headlines for his professional and dating life lately, he’s also apparently been busy shopping for a new mansion.

In fact, it's safe to say that the home is fit for a NFL champion like Kelce. Travis’ new pad, in addition to being more secluded from the prying eyes of paparazzi, reportedly has six bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a waterfall. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and rumored Taylor Swift beau closed on a Kansas City mansion Tuesday for just under $6 million, TMZ first reported. The new property is in a gated community, which lines up with reports that Kelce was looking for more privacy amidst the heightened attention he’s been getting related to his Swift-adjacent social life as of late.

The tune is rumored to be about Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce, which, per this song, ignites a child-like giddiness in her. The house of Travis Kelce boasts an amazing area of about 12,000 square feet making it a small villa or a mansion in its own sense. House bought fully by Travis in 2016 when he made the final payments for the house.

Celebrities are also not letting their fans into oblivion and are continuously feeding them information about their lifestyle and their plans in life. Taylor Swift released the 16-track “Tortured Poets Department” at the stroke of midnight on Friday — and surprised fans with 15 more songs two hours later. The massive modern steakhouse will take up 10,000 square feet and span two floors. 1587 Prime will house several private dining rooms, a cutting edge chef’s kitchen, and an impressive meat display, all of which will tie in more "hyper-subtle nods" to Mahomes’ and Kelce’s football accolades. The “Welcome to New York” singer-songwriter, of course, lives primarily in the Big Apple — and Kelce was seen leaving that pad over the weekend. The 12-time Grammy Award winner is something of a real estate investor, with roughly $150 million in real-estate holdings, according to a May estimate in the Wall Street Journal.

Swift has bought and sold several properties in Nashville, Beverly Hills, Rhode Island and the United Kingdom. The Post reported that the luxury purchase also aligns with the football star’s recent pay raise. The tight end’s salary reportedly jumped from $2.9 million in 2022 to $11.2 million this year. Plus, he’s taken part in several high-profile endorsement deals, with brands including Pfizer, Nike, Bud Light and State Farm. The 1,434-square-foot home, which Donna is said to live in, features two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

5 Key Architectural Design Phases Explained

architectural design process

At this stage of architectural design, we analyze the client’s program and begin preliminary studies to develop design concepts and sketches. These sketches show space arrangements, planning relationships, and a variety of materials. As the floor plans and shapes are defined, the details of materials and construction take longer to complete.

The Schematic Design Phase

Another way your architect may engage occupants is through a user-needs survey, which can help gather input from a larger range of stakeholders, particularly on larger projects. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of themost exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal. Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field.

architectural design process

Phases of Architectural Design Process

This is when the client provides the architect with a list of what spaces are going into the building. The architect establishes the size, location, and relationships between all the spaces. Now that the client is happy with the design, it’s time to create a more detailed plan. Those details include the placement of doors and windows and any adjustments to the building form. At this stage, a structural engineer will join the design team to help come up with more accurate estimates for the project. As the construction project unfolds, there may be external impacts, regulations and other forces in addition to internal forces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each architecture firm provides a different percentage of the overall cost for a given project. Generally speaking, these phases are accepted by most architects around. It’s important to ask an architect to provide you with a thorough explanation of their fee structure.

With this type of bid, the client or the architect selects a preferred contractor and works with that contractor to develop a cost and proposal for the construction. The construction documents will fill in all the details and include every element of the design. The higher the quality and completeness of your documents, the more accurate bids you will get – this is important during the bidding phase. Most architects will offer programming services in addition to their architectural services.

It’s common for clients to get anxious and excited about the start of the build. They are (in order) Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding, and Construction Administration. These phases are the breakdown of how architects define their design services.

Leonardo.Ai helps architects to reduce time-consuming tasks by allowing for rapid prototyping and on-the-fly image generation. Our versatile tools empower users to  test concepts, quickly iterate on their designs and visualise projects efficiently and creatively. Though its skyline will never measure up to the likes of New York or Chicago, Los Angeles has carved out its own architectural identity.

Occasionally, there is disagreement between the architect and the client over the design or specific feature of the building. Therefore, it is important to consider the client’s wishes as well as and be convincing when presenting ideas. Once you’ve gathered information about the project, the next step is to generate and consider solutions. Using your knowledge of architecture, sketch and model possible designs that address the site conditions and client’s needs. Now that you have identified these, it is necessary to gather information that will support the development of the project. Moreover, the data you collect may help inform design decisions in later steps.

Schematic Design Phase and Evolving the Revit Model

Minor changes can still be made in this design phase, but extensive changes could require additional services and added fees. It is possible to make minor changes to the design during the construction documents phase, but it can affect the overall schedule. These floor plans include design elements like doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, cross-sections, and walls. Architects start by creating a rough draft of the design that combines both the architect’s vision and the client’s goals. Architects begin creating an initial set of drawings and discussing cost estimates with the client at this point in the process.

Architects meet regularly with their clients to show them the drawings of different variations to help everyone decide on which design is best. Disagreements are reduced if the architect takes the client’s needs into account when designing. If you take a Design-Bid-Build route, you will go through a public bidding process. Other delivery methods include some degree of bidding for subcontractor work. Using a life-cycle cost analysis, you will select building systems and materials. For example, you may use the analysis to find the most economical, low-maintenance flooring option.

Design is not a linear process, and can skip around in a random series of responses as it address issues and reacts to changes. The initial research and proposal stages may weave into one another as data is collected and responses are made to that data. As the proposal phase continues, more definite ideas will emerge, and a wide array of tools will be used to convey these early ideas.

Meanwhile, Charles has his own problems with Laura as he tries to fit a new picture window in the house. When Charles' mother, Laura Colby Ingalls (Jan Sterling) passes away, he travels to Wisconsin and persuades his father, Lansford Ingalls (Arthur Hill), to go back with him to Walnut Grove. While staying with Charles and his family, Lansford begins to form a special relationship with his granddaughter Laura, and this is strengthened when he tells Laura that she was named after her grandmother, Lansford's wife. Carrie goes along with Laura and Mary when they go out collecting insects for a school project, but Carrie wanders off and falls into an abandoned mine shaft. As the townspeople battle to find a way to rescue her, Lars Hanson clashes with the man he blames for the death of the woman he loved. When Reverend Alden (Dabbs Greer) asks for donations for a bell for the church building, Mrs. Oleson announces that she and her husband will donate a large bell, along with a plaque with their names on.

Only when Percival tells her she is pretty does she soften and start to cooperate. However, as they return through Sleepy Eye, Laura spots an old courthouse building available for rent. The 1st Annual Charity Picnic is held at The Harriet Oleson Institute for the Advancement of Blind Children to raise funds to extend the building. Albert and a friend named Clay experiment with smoking a pipe in the basement and accidentally start a fire, which destroys the building and claims the lives of Alice Garvey and Adam Jr. Afterwards, Mary is in deep shock and denial that her baby has gone, so Adam goes to New York City to find specialist help for her and to look for a new teaching post.

Eventually, the railroad company suspends all efforts to dig out the trains, leaving the town stranded. For weeks, the Ingallses subsist on potatoes and coarse brown bread, using twisted hay for fuel. As even this meager food runs out, Laura's future husband Almanzo Wilder and his friend Cap Garland risk their lives to bring wheat to the starving townspeople – enough to last the rest of the winter. The day Pa leaves, however, their beloved bulldog Jack is found dead, which saddens Laura greatly. In actuality, the dog upon whom Jack was based was no longer with the family at this point, but the author inserted his death here to serve as a transition between her childhood and her adolescence. Laura also begins to play a more mature role in the family due to Mary's blindness—Pa instructs Laura to "be Mary's eyes" and to assist her in daily life as she learns to cope with her disability.

Rachel Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush as Carrie Ingalls

I think it's the only television series to go into syndication while filming and never be off the air. Laura must board with the Brewsters in their two-room claim shanty, sleeping on their sofa. The Brewsters are an unhappy family and Laura is deeply uncomfortable observing the way husband and wife quarrel. In one particularly unsettling incident, she wakes in the night to see Mrs Brewster standing over her husband with a knife. It is a bitterly cold winter, and neither the claim shanty nor the schoolhouse can be heated adequately. The children she is teaching, some of whom are older than she is, test her skills as a teacher.

The resulting nerve damage means Mary's vision cannot be saved, and she will soon go blind. In denial, Charles does not tell his daughter until a few days before she wakes up and finds, to her horror, she is completely blind. Mary becomes bitter over her predicament and having to rely on others for basic needs. Meanwhile, Charles, Jonathan Garvey, and the rest of the town of Walnut Grove have another problem as the whole township is threatened by an escalation of a dispute between The Grange and the railroads. This prevents crops and other items from being sold and traded, and disables the bank, causing financial problems for the entire town.

At the last church service, Mary shares her testimony with the congregation. She has accepted her condition and is ready to go on with her new life with Adam in Winoka. Caroline orders Laura to care for her dog, Jack, before going to town to greet a newcomer, Kezia Horn (Hermione Baddeley), who lives in the ruins of a house. Laura becomes frustrated with Jack and gives up trying to take the foxtails out of his ears. Mary, Laura, Nellie, and Willie visit Kezia and find out what a unique yet kind person she is. Charles assumes Jack knew his time was coming and decided to spare everyone the sadness of watching him die, but Laura feels guilty about neglecting him.

At the end of this book, the family is told that the land must be vacated by settlers as it is not legally open to settlement yet, and in 1875 Pa elects to leave the land and move before the Army forcibly requires him to abandon the land. Ma's prejudice against American Indians, and Laura's juvenile feelings, are shown side by side with the portrayal of the Osage tribe that lives on and owns the Ingalls family's land. A memorable scene of the Osage departing for the west culminates with Laura's captivation with a serious Osage baby, who stares intently at Laura from a basket hanging off the horse ridden by his mother. Laura clamors to keep that baby ("His eyes are so black"), which shocks both Ma and Pa. The performers on the Emmy-winning series took the opportunity to reflect on the legacy of their late costar Michael Landon, who played the father Charles Ingalls and died at age 54 from pancreatic cancer in 1991.

Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls Wilder

She also appeared on TV shows like Murder, She Wrote and Hotel and played Mrs. Sutherland in the 1994 movie Wyatt Earp. The show's lasting charm lies in the ensemble cast who brought the characters of Walnut Grove to life. From the unwavering wisdom of Michael Landon's Charles “Pa” Ingalls to Melissa Gilbert's endearing portrayal of Laura, each actor contributed to the show’s legacy. In the first episode of The Smoking Room, "Doo Di Dum Di Da", Robin can't remember the theme song for Little House.

It was loosely based on the books so many of us read as children. The show's star was Melissa Gilbert who played little Laura Ingalls, an optimistic, curious, and mischievous young girl who quickly became America's sweetheart. The pilot for the show aired 50 years ago on March 30th on NBC, and the series ran for a remarkable nine seasons. Here to talk about the show's outsized impact on American culture and share her experience being part of it is the woman who played its star Laura, Melissa Gilbert.

Eventually, the husbands, led by Charles, decide that they can support the petition, and marital peace and harmony is restored. Caroline hears that her mother and stepfather are coming for a visit, but her mother passes away during the train journey. Caroline's stepfather, Frederick Holbrook, is inconsolably distraught, until the family—enjoying his tales of when Caroline was young—persuade him to write his autobiography. Meanwhile, Mary is heavily pregnant, and soon gives birth to Charles' and Caroline's first grandson, Adam Charles Holbrook Kendall. Rev. Alden falls in love with a member of his congregation and marries her, but almost comes at a cost when Mrs. Oleson attempts to tear their relationship apart, distressing the Reverend to illness.

After their final episode in 1982, Rachel Lindsay appeared in Matt Houston, while Sidney starred in the dramedy Hambone and Hillie. They also collaborated on commercials for Doublemint gum, Mattel and Kentucky Fried Chicken before leaving acting to focus on school. Michael Landon, born Eugene Maurice Orowitz, was already a well-known star when he joined Little House on the Prairie, with notable roles in I Was a Teenage Werewolf and Bonanza.

In the last chapter, they sit down to enjoy their Christmas dinner in May. Almanzo had a third sister, Laura (1844–1899), who at the time and events in the novel was already about twenty-two and had presumably moved out. He later had a brother, Perley (1869–1934), who was not yet born at the time Farmer Boy is set.

During the confrontation, Sylvia suffers a bad fall, and she later dies in the arms of a distraught, heartbroken Albert. A young, talented painter named Annie Crane (Madeleine Stowe) is the talk of the town for her talent, despite having lost her sight in early childhood. An art exhibitor is impressed by Annie's work and arranges for her pictures to be publicized.

Then an obesely overweight boy, Elmer, joins the school and is teased by his classmates, but he is a bright student and Nancy exploits his attraction to her. Albert and Willie see what she is doing and get her into trouble with Laura, but Nancy blames Elmer who decides to quit school, so the boys have to put things right. Laura and Almanzo clash again over their different aspirations for their marriage, and this is aggravated when Laura comes to believe that Almanzo is having an affair with one of his former girlfriends, Brenda Sue. Laura returns to her family, saying she wants to leave Almanzo, and even picks a fight with Brenda Sue. Mrs. Oleson seems to enjoy spreading the bad news, but Charles and Caroline help to bring Laura and Almanzo back together.

Jonathan Gilbert, the younger brother of Melissa Gilbert, played Willie Oleson, Nellie's brother, in his first acting job. He appeared in all seasons of Little House on the Prairie and two of the TV movies. He also acted with his sister in the 1979 made-for-TV movie The Miracle Worker. Matthew Labyorteaux first appeared on Little House on the Prairie in 1976 as a younger Charles Ingalls in flashbacks.
